Women in Insurance & Financial Services of North East Florida (WIFS NEFL) is pleased to host a breakfast with Kristi Brandon (Director of Development) and Anita Walton (Director of Product Sales) of the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council. For those who may not be aware, the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council (GSGC) serves more than 13,000 girls and 5,700 adults in 16 counties in North Florida and is one of the first Girl Scout troops started in this area.
“The women of WIFS are financial services industry leaders and many of us were Girl Scouts in our youth” said Lorraine Dorsa, WIFS Board Member, “so we think it’s very fitting to host the GSGC as its mission: to build girls of courage, confidence, and character …, is very much in sync with WIFS goal to attract retain and develop women within the financial services sector” said Dorsa. “Indeed” said WIFS Board Chair, Cheryl Canzanella, “the Girl Scouts provided me with experiences that helped me develop my personal best, and I credit many of my “badges of honor” for frequently inspiring me to take the actions necessary to solve both my personal and professional challenges”, said Canzanella.
In fact, the Girl Scout cookie program is the world’s largest girl-led business and 80% of women business owners were Girl Scouts; so please join us on March 11 to hear Kristi Brandon and Anita Walton share how the Girl Scouts help girls develop the leadership skills they need to succeed and how the GSGC’s financial literacy program is making an impact as well. The discussion will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Hampton Inn-San Marco 1331 Prudential Drive Jacksonville, FL 32207.
