January Membership Lunch Meeting-Celebrating a Life Lived

Have you shared your New Year resolutions, or have you resolved never to make a New Year’s resolution ever again? If the latter, you’re not alone. Many people get frustrated when, year after year, they make resolutions that they don’t or can’t keep.

Why does this happen? After all, we all have the best intentions and the timing; a new year, a new start couldn’t be better! The problem often lies in the fact that we place a huge amount of pressure on ourselves. During the last week of December and the first week of January, all you hear is, “What is your New Year’s resolutions, or what are you going to work on this year?”

And the focus is on the “what” not the “how.”   When you focus solely on the goal rather than on the specifics of how you are going to accomplish it, you set yourself up for failure or are forced to “make it happen” but in a less than optimal manner.

So, while you may not be  thinking of this as you first goal of the New Year, it is nonetheless a critical and un-escapable one — on January 13th we have asked Robin Giddens Sheppard, Vice President at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Homes to share her thoughts on how we can celebrate our life or that of a loved one with a funeral and memorial service befitting of the life lived.

The areas Robin will discuss include how you or your loved one would want to be remembered and other programs designed to help with the myriad questions and issues that arise when a death occurs. Of course she will also discuss how you can pre-plan for the inevitable. Planning ahead can reduce stress, assure wishes are being honored and the goal of a respectful goodbye is achieved.  So, with the preceding in mind, please join us and our sponsor Exam One* on:

Second, one of the best parts of the WIFS National Conference is the group of women who come from all over the U.S. who are eager to discuss the challenges, successes, resources and the support they’ve found in the course of their careers.
